LAFCA Presents: The Little Mermaid

On Thursday, July 24th, LAFCA and the Egyptian Theatre will welcome Academy Award nominated filmmakers Ron Clements and John Musker, who will appear for a Q&A moderated by LAFCA member Carlos Aguilar prior to a screening of their 1989 smash hit, The Little Mermaid. Clements and Musker received LAFCA’s inaugural award for Best Animation for the film, which was the first award of its kind for an animated feature among critics groups.
In Disney's beguiling animated romp, rebellious 16-year-old mermaid Ariel is fascinated with life on land. On one of her visits to the surface, which are forbidden by her controlling father, King Triton, she falls for a human prince. Determined to be with her new love, Ariel makes a dangerous deal with the sea witch Ursula to become human for three days. But when plans go awry for the star-crossed lovers, the king must make the ultimate sacrifice for his daughter.
