DETAILS

The American Cinematheque is thrilled to announce its homecoming to the Egyptian Theatre with ‘Ultra Cinematheque 70: Hollywood.’ Alongside screenings of 70mm classics like SPARTACUS, THE WILD BUNCH, LAWRENCE OF ARABIA and 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, the Cinematheque will kick off our festival with a print of Jacques Tati’s futuristic masterpiece PLAYTIME which has not screened in our theatres for over a decade. Our Egyptian reopening tribute to the large-screen format also includes rare 70mm screenings of James Cameron’s ALIENS which originally played at the Egyptian Theatre on July 14th, 1986, and has not screened in 70mm at the American Cinematheque since 2009.

In recent years, a new generation has embraced large-format presentation, including Paul Thomas Anderson’s 70mm THE MASTER and BOOGIE NIGHTS and Jordan Peele’s uncanny sci-fi western NOPE.

This series is a presentation of the American Cinematheque. Tickets for this (or any other) American Cinematheque screenings at the Egyptian are only available through their site, here.
