SYNOPSIS

One of David Lean’s rare leanings into comedy, BLITHE SPIRIT is the classic adaptation of Noel Coward’s smash-hit theater piece starring Rex Harrison (MY FAIR LADY) as a novelist who cheekily invites spirit medium Margaret Rutherford (THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST) to his house for a séance, hoping the experience will help inspire his current book project. Things go haywire, though, when she summons the spirit of Harrison’s deceased first wife…a severe inconvenience for his current second wife! With Technicolor panache and effective Forties special effects, BLITHE SPIRIT will thaw the cold heart of any cinema cynic.
