LAFCA: RED ROCKET | SEAN BAKER, SIMON REX, ALEX COCO & DREW DANIELS IN CONVERSATION WITH KATIE WALSH
DETAILS
The Egyptian Theatre continues its monthly screening series with the Los Angeles Film Critics Association in 2026.
LAFCA, which recently celebrated its 50th anniversary, presents a series of screenings that showcase the unique choices made by the organization at its annual vote. LAFCA has often chosen to highlight excellent titles that stand apart from the preordained front-runners of awards season.
On Tuesday, March 31, join us for a very special screening of Academy Award winner Sean Baker’s 2021 comedy Red Rocket on 35mm! After the screening, we’ll welcome director Sean Baker, lead actor Simon Rex (who won LAFCA’s 2021 Best Actor prize for the film), producer Alex Coco and cinematographer Drew Daniels for a Q&A moderated by film critic and LAFCA Vice President Katie Walsh.
Red Rocket - which premiered in competition at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival - follows ex-porn star Mikey Saber (Rex), who decides to crawl back to his hometown of Texas City, Texas, where his estranged wife and mother-in-law are living. Just as this dysfunctional family seems to be making things work, Mikey meets a young woman named Strawberry working the cash register at a local doughnut shop. He falls right back into his old habits.
