NORMA RAE | Q&A WITH SALLY FIELD

Q&A WITH SALLY FIELD

DETAILS

The Egyptian Theatre is proud to continue its monthly screening series with the Los Angeles Film Critics Association in 2025.

This year, LAFCA celebrates its 50th anniversary. To honor this milestone, each film selected for this series in 2025 represents a unique choice made by the organization at its annual vote.  LAFCA has often chosen to highlight excellent titles that stand apart from the preordained front-runners of awards season.

On Wednesday, August 13th,the legendary Sally Field will join us at the Egyptian Theatre for a screening of Martin Ritt’s 1979 drama Norma Rae, for which Field won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Award for Best Actress, in addition to the Best Actress Oscar, Golden Globe and the Best Actress prize at that year’s Cannes Film Festival. Field will be joined in conversation with film critic and LAFCA member Claudia Puig.

We look forward to sharing more surprises for this series in 2025! Be sure to sign up for our Egyptian newsletter to be the first to know when tickets are on sale!

SYNOPSIS
Like a lot of her family before her, Norma Rae (Sally Field) works at the local textile mill, where the pay is hardly commensurate with the long hours and lousy working conditions. But after hearing a rousing speech by labor activist Reuben (Ron Leibman), Norma is inspired to rally her fellow workers behind the cause of unionism. Her decision rankles her family, especially her fiancé, Sonny (Beau Bridges), and provokes no shortage of contempt from her employers.
