Jay Leno hosted the award show. Garth Brooks performed for John and guests and Dustin Hoffman (MAD CITY co-star) presented Travolta with the American Cinematheque Award. Also on hand to tribute Travolta were Kirstie Alley, Olivia Newton John, Gene Siskel, Howie Long, Jon Turteltaub and others.
