| Platinum Career: A Tribute to Kim Novak
This
is an Egyptian Theatre Exclusive!
Co-presented by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Los Angeles
magazine.
Legend.....a person who is the center of
stories perpetuated by their telling through history...someone who is timeless in their
style and appeal. That was Garbo
that was Dietrich, and that IS Novak.
A star is a magical, incandescent quality that shines on screen. One
is born with the magic; it cannot be taught or created from the outside. Kim Novaks
soul reaches out and touches you with her truth.
Her work is receiving more acclaim with the passage of time.
Recently Novak was honored with the prestigious Golden Bear Award for her lifetime
achievement at the Berlin International Film Festival. In 2003 she was presented with the
Eastman (Kodak) Archives Award for her contribution to film (prior honorees include Garbo,
Audrey Hepburn, Jimmy Stewart, Martin Scorsese and Meryl Streep).
Novak never dreamed of being an actress. As a young girl, she
received an art scholarship to the prestigious Chicago Art Institute and was planning to
attend. During a summer trip to Hollywood with a friend, she was discovered by an agent
and signed to Columbia Pictures.
In 1956 Novak became the No. 1 box office star in
the world for three years. At the height of her fame she had the courage to walk away from
fame and fortune in search of her own identity. She is an artist in the worlds of motion
pictures, painting, writing, sculpting and photography. Novak possesses a magic that
enables her to endure the test of time. She is luminescent both on and offscreen, and is
timeless. That is what makes a legend.
Join us for a weekend tribute to the career of Kim
Novak.
