CHAMPIONS OF MEXICAN WRESTLING), 2008, BouncyNet /Azteca Cine, 72 min. Dir. Eddie
Mort. A feature-length animated action-comedy from FWAK! Animation, the creators of
"¡Mucha Lucha!" Masked mayhem ensues when a team of wrestling heroes is caught
in the middle of a struggle between a gang of barbarians right out of MAD MAX and a legion
of monsters inspired by the golden age of Mexican horror films. A Spanish-language version
of this film just ran in theaters throughout Mexico, but we're proud to present the first
public screening in Los Angeles of an English-language 35mm print. Creators Eddie

of Village Voice Media, Claudia Puig of USA Today, Peter Rainer of the Christian

ARE MADE OF...OR WHY CITIZEN KANE DIDN'T WIN: SEMINAR Just in time for motion picture
awards season, take this thought-provoking journey back in time to see who wins our most
coveted of film prizes. What does it REALLY take to appeal to our most respected award
juries to "win the gold"? What do the winners of the "best" film,
acting, photography and design categories share in common? Before you cast your personal
award show ballot, discover the real impulses that lead to award show victories! Thomas
Ethan Harris instructs. Film clips will be used to inspire an open dialogue with the
audience. Essential for all film lovers and award show junkies! This seminar opens a

FETISH FILM NIGHT
[Spielberg] THE BABY, 1973, 84 min.
Dir. Ted Post (MAGNUM FORCE, BENEATH THE PLANET OF THE APES). You can’t get more cult
than this original and odd film. The Wadsworths are a typical ordinary family: a
strong-willed matriarchal mother (Ruth Roman, of STRANGERS ON A TRAIN), two lust-fueled
daughters and a bouncing baby boy. Except the baby (David Mooney) is going on 30 years
old, sits in a crib, wears diapers and sucks a bottle. When the family’s new social
worker (Anjanette Comer, of THE LOVED ONE) arrives, she takes notice of the baby and
decides to do something about this dysfunctional household. The 1970s-era brightly colored
sets evoke a "Brady Bunch" suburbia, but one that is slightly off-balance. The
decaying Victorian Wadsworth mansion, a cross between something out of WILLARD and
"The Munsters," adds to the neglected aura of the family relations.
Cinematographer Michael Margulies uses skewed camera angles bolster the unsettling nature
of this film, and Gerald Fried's score creates an eerie atmosphere. Mooney is excellent as
"Baby." One of the few films to present the subject of ABs (adult babies),
Fetish Film Night’s presentation is an experience that won't be replicated at your
local multiplex and is essential for fans of fetish cinema. "…deliciously

Fetish Film Night is a once-monthly series hosted by Rick Castro of Antebellum

for this series will have fetish as the main theme and subject matter. Rick Castro is an
independent curator, filmmaker and photographer working and living in Los Angeles his
entire life. Castro explores the worlds of fetish and subculture. Rick’s photography
is in the permanent collection of the Alfred Kinsey Institute. His books and magazines are

AFRICAN AMERICAN SHORT Film
Celebration. This shorts program celebrates the voices that define a new generation of
Black Cinema and showcases narrative, animated and documentary films that expand
characters and themes of the African American experience. This 70-minute program will
include these standout shorts and more: Roberta Marie Munroe's "Happy
Birthday" (USA, 2008, 14 min). Julie Goldman and Yolonda Ross star in this comedy
by former Sundance Shorts programmer and one of POWER UP's Top Amazing Gay Women in
Hollywood. Rashaad Ernesto Green's award-winning "Premature" (USA, 2008,
15 min). A sensitive performance by Zora Howard as Tisha, a streetwise teenager faced with
an unwanted pregnancy. Filmmaker-actress-editor and studio animation voiceover pro Kamali
Minter's "Love Conquers Al" (USA, 2008, 15 min). This festival favorite
features an outstanding comedy performance by Malcolm Barrett. Program compiled by

ART DECO SOCIETY LECTURE
THE MOVIE THEATER ARCHITECTURE OF TIMOTHY
PFLUEGER. 90 min. The Art Deco Society of Los Angeles, in partnership with
American Cinematheque, is delighted to host an afternoon with Therese Poletti,
author of Art Deco San Francisco: The Architecture of Timothy Pflueger. This
special lecture and book-signing, developed specifically for the ADSLA, will focus on
Pflueger's work designing some of California's most beautiful and iconic movie palaces,
including Oakland's beloved Paramount. In addition to discussing Pflueger's work and
wide-ranging influence, she will also share the story behind the architecture --
Pflueger's commissioning and support of muralist Diego Rivera and his association with
photographer Ansel Adams and sculptor Ralph Stackpole -- all punctuated by beautiful
